Cookie and Local Storage Policy
Last updated: [EFFECTIVE_DATE]
1. Introduction
This Cookie and Local Storage Policy explains how FormChase uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our application and website. We are committed to transparency about the data we store on your device.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device to remember information about your visit. They are commonly used for:
- Remembering your login status
- Storing your preferences
- Tracking usage for analytics
3. Our Approach: No HTTP Cookies
Unlike many websites and applications, we have chosen not to use HTTP cookies. This means:
- No tracking cookies from us or third parties
- No advertising cookies
- No cross-site tracking
- No cookie consent banner required for cookie purposes
4. What We Use Instead: Local Storage
FormChase uses local storage (specifically, AsyncStorage on mobile devices and localStorage on web browsers) to store necessary data directly on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly sync it.
4.1 Essential Local Storage
We store the following data locally for the Service to function:
| Storage Key | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Session data | Maintains your logged-in state | Until logout |
| User preferences | Language, theme, display settings | Until cleared |
| Offline queue | Pending data to sync when online | Until synced |
| Cache data | Improves app performance | Cleared periodically |
4.2 Analytics Session Data
For internal analytics (not shared with third parties), we store:
| Storage Key | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Session ID | Groups events in a browsing session | 30 minutes of inactivity |
| Event queue | Batches analytics events | Until sent to server |
Important: Session IDs are randomly generated locally and cannot identify you personally. Analytics data is sent only to our own servers (Supabase), not to third-party analytics services.
5. Third-Party Cookies and Tracking
5.1 We Do Not Use Third-Party Analytics Cookies
FormChase does NOT integrate:
- Google Analytics
- Facebook Pixel
- Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar services
- Advertising networks
- Social media tracking
5.2 Payment Processing (Stripe)
When you make a payment, you interact with Stripe's payment forms. Stripe may use cookies on their domains for:
- Fraud prevention
- Payment processing security
These cookies are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy and only apply when you're on Stripe's payment pages.
